Woodland Adventure Playground
Nestled amongst part of Raby’s vast woodlands is the shaded and leafy Woodland Adventure Playground. Children have been known to spend hours here having fun on the rustic obstacle course that includes an army style zip wire, adults can sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Raby Park. The car park and picnic area are close by as well as plenty of wide-open space to run around.
Children’s Activity Sheets
We have developed a free activity sheet to lead children around the castle and help bring history alive in the vast halls and chambers. The activity sheet can be collected on entry to the Castle at the Portcullis Gate where the trail begins and will lead children through all the rooms of the castle. There’ll be questions to answer and items to look out for and our helpful guides are always on hand to assist with any tricky answers!
Special Events
There is a programme of events that take place throughout the summer, including the popular Easter Treasure Trail, Family Fun Days, Outdoor & Family Theatre, Classic Car Shows and Markets. To find out more about what’s coming up this year visit the News and Events pages of the website.
For Babies
Baby changing facilities are available in both the female toilets and male accessible toilets.
Gift Shop & Tearooms
House in the Old Stables is the Raby Tearooms with the Gift Shop adjoining. A range of snacks, light lunches, cakes and drinks can be purchased from the tearooms as well as children’s lunch boxes; highchairs are available for young children. Unfortunately we are unable to re-heat baby food that has been brought in from outside the premises.
The Gift Shop has a unique selection of gifts, souvenirs, confectionary, preserves, chutneys, toys and pocket money items to suit anyone’s budget.
