| Raby Castle are delighted to welcome back the award
winning Illyria for another wonderful evening of outdoor theatre
in the Walled Gardens . The backdrop of the castle lends itself
perfectly to outdoor theatre. Audiences are advised to bring their
own low backed seating and / or rugs, and to arrive early with a
picnic and a bottle of something bubbly to enjoy.
Back by popular demand! The original and greatest literary detective
of them all, Sherlock Holmes, and his assistant Doctor Watson tackle
the most baffling case of their careers...
An ancient curse hangs over the Baskerville family of Dartmoor:
all are said to die a brutal death, the victim of a gigantic ghostly
hound. When Sir Charles Baskerville meets an untimely end, the case
is brought to the attention of Sherlock Holmes. But of what use
is the famous detective's scientific reasoning when confronted with
a purely supernatural case? With so little to go on can he prevent
the same fate befalling the young Sir Henry Baskerville? Why is
someone systematically stealing Sir Henry's shoes? And how does
a ghostly hound manage to leave vast paw prints and other unwelcome
evidence of its existence?
This production completed a sell out tour in 2007 and was created
by the same team behind Illyria's enormously successful tour of
Pride and Prejudice. As Watson rushes to Devon on the 08.49, an
escaped convict roams the wastes of Dartmoor, and a distant howling
is heard echoing in the moonlight, Illyria promises a night of chills
and chuckles in equal measure!
