Raby Game and Venison
Venison and Game, such as pheasant, grouse, partridge and wood cock, are naturally produced on the lower Raby Estate. The produce we offer is of the highest standard and is available from the Tearooms at Raby Castle.
Fresh Venison & Game Meat
Fresh venison and game meat reared on the Raby Estate will be available at the Taste of Teesdale Christmas Market on 11th December and also on Sunday 18th December from a pop-up stall run by Head Gamekeeper Iain Alexander.
Pre-orders can be made for collection on both dates, please contact Iain on 07967 695022 to place a meat order. Frozen venison and game will still be available to buy in the Tearooms.
A wide product range is available, frozen in thermos-style chilled boxes, clearly labelled, detailing all necessary information, including a product reference number which assists in traceability. including:
- Game birds, such as pheasant, mallard and pigeon
- Venison cuts, such as haunch, loin and stewing steak
It is also available to purchase from Teesdale Game & Poultry, who have a retail outlet in Durham City’s indoor market and attend various farmers markets across the region.
The Raby Estate supplies many local butchers and restaurants with fresh venison carcases to prepare and use in their dishes, you may find Raby Venison on the menu at the following places:
