The collection of Horse Drawn Carriages at Raby Castle was catalogued this week, for a major project being organised by the Carriage Foundation.
David Haigh and Bill Addinall, travelled from Huddersfield on behalf of the Carriage Foundation visited to have a look at our collection of horse-drawn vehicles. The Carriage Foundation is a group of experts and enthusiasts of horse-drawn vehicles who work on an entirely voluntary basis! The Foundation’s first major project will provide a freely accessible online database containing a detailed list of historic horse-drawn carriages that are in collections throughout the UK. As part of their research, members from the Foundation visited us to catalogue our horse-drawn vehicles, this included gathering photographs, measurements, interesting features, date/place of manufacture etc. The Foundation aims to encourage an interest in all matters connected with horse-drawn vehicles, to be involved and for further information about their projects, please visit their website at www.thecarriagefoundation.org.uk.
