This Saturday, 28th June 2014, Lord Barnard has kindly allowed the Butterwick Hospice to hold there Western Walk in Raby Park, and it looks set to be a great fun family event!
The sponsored twilight walk, which will include family western themed entertainment before and after the walk, is in aid of the beneficial services given by the hospice freely to people in Teesdale, Weardale and the Sedgefield area.
Butterwick Hospice are calling on you to get your posse together and pull on your best jeans, boots and checky shirt and mosey on down to join in the wild-west fun, which starts at 4pm, with the walk commencing at 6pm. Watch what unfolds in the Frontier town - How many frontier skills do you have? Practice your lassoing techniques or even your line dancing moves and with a chance to win prizes on the rifle ranges and to test the quality of your Yee Haa, there's also an opportunity to watch some Western riding skills including the exciting sport of Barrel Racing. With so much going on an early arrival is a must!
During the three mile walk through the beautiful grounds of Raby Castle there will be lots of fun things to find. Tucked away you may stumble across a Red-Indian encampment (watch out for those darn renegade braves on the route too).
Upon completion of your walk we invite you to roll out your picnic blanket and settle back surrounded by our on-site tee-pees. You can bring along your own picnic or take the opportunity to sample and purchase some of our fine western style cuisine.
Relax after your walk and enjoy listening to the fabulous singing sensation, Mike Ward, (The Voice 2013 finalist) along with many other great Country and Western entertainers.
