Raby Castle has launched its Spring season of events in what is set to be an action-packed year at the Castle; family fun and trails for February half term, Mother’s Day ‘Tour and Tea’ in the Castle and not forgetting the Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour
For the first time, Raby Castle will be opening for February half term. To mark the occasion, it has teamed up with Bright Woods Forest School CIC to bring an exciting collection of family activities that will teach children of all ages about Birds. There will be Bird Box building sessions in the Coach Yard, a free ‘Who Am I?’ Spring Trail in the Park, free bird colouring sheets in the Stables Cafe and the Shop will have beautiful bird picture and activity books, handcrafted wooden bird calling whistles, build your own bird feeder and create your own insect house tins. Don’t forget to sample one of the Café’s signature hot chocolates whilst you’re there.
March will see the return of Raby’s very popular midweek ‘Behind the Scenes’ tours and the Castle will reopen fully to the public at weekends. A new ‘Afternoon Tour and Tea in the Castle’ package has been launched for those looking for a truly special way to celebrate Mothering Sunday and the gardens will be open for all of these events as it reopens at the beginning of March.
Saturday 6thApril sees the Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour stop at Raby Castle on its tour of the North West. Brought to you in conjunction with Durham County Cricket Club, this event will include a fun filled day for all the family with a commemorative Cricket Match on the beautiful Raby Castle Cricket pitch, children’s ‘Come and Try’ activities and of course a variety of food and drink.
The ‘Children’s Tours of the Castle’ will be returning for the school holidays in April, Brightwoods will have a ‘Whose Baby Am I’ trail and will also be helping you create Easter themed miniature growing gardens.
For those of you looking for something more challenging, we’ll be welcoming the Young Farmer’s Horse Ride back to Raby at the end of April and Teesdale Athletics Club Races in May. Or for something totally different Raby will be celebrating the 20thAnniversary of the Orchid Show on the first May Bank Holiday weekend.
