This is the time of year when our female deer give birth and although it is very exciting to see babies around the park we always remind our visitors to respect their privacy and keep a safe distance.
If you see a baby deer in the park do not approach it, even if it appears to be on its own. Its mother won’t be too far away and you could be putting the calf and yourself at risk by going too close.

With so much to see in the Walled Garden during the summer months we have decided to open the park and gardens daily from 9am.
Starting from 5th June, the Walled Garden and Park will now be open throughout the week, including Monday and Tuesday. Park and Gardens admission will apply and tickets can be purchased in the Gift Shop.

We know many of our visitors are keen gardeners who love coming to Raby Castle to wander through the Walled Gardens to watch their colours change through Spring, Summer and early Autumn so we are always pleased when we have the opportunity to host extra events for plant and garden lovers. Bike hire is now available to visitors so that they can explore our 200 acres of spectacular parkland on two wheels.
The huge expanse of open space offers an idyllic cycling environment and a chance to glimpse the castle from different angles.
Riders can look out for red deer, fallow deer and plenty of other wildlife. Please respect the privacy of the animals when you ride around the park, particularly between May and July when the deer are calving. This month we have welcomed the arrival of a new bull to our herd of Longhorn cattle at Raby Castle.
Raby Kaiserchief was actually bred here seven years ago and we are delighted to welcome him back to the herd.
There has been a Longhorn herd at the castle since the 1970s. Over the years our cattle have won numerous trophies at various agricultural shows and we have had a number of Breed Champions at the prestigious Great Yorkshire Show.

Our refurbished Tearooms will be open from 9am every day from Saturday 24th March and regular visitors will notice that it isn’t just the décor that’s changed.
Tickets are no longer required to access the Tearooms and Gift Shop and we hope this will make it much easier for people to visit regularly.
The Tearooms is a cosy place to meet friends for coffee and this year we will also be serving a selection of brunch dishes including avocado on toast and locally sourced eggs, bacon and sausages.
